rust on my grill

i'm getting some rust on the grill of my cab..

it's a custom cab so the paint job may not have been top notch....though the sound is..............

i have no idea what to do...

should i take it off and...clean it, re finish it, etc...

I had the grills on my Bergs powder coated. Looks better, tougher, and not very expensive to have done.

The grills on my 1x15 cabs were looking worn, so I gave them a light sanding and washed them down with alcohol, then used some black barbecue grill spay paint from Home Depot. Two coats and it looks like new. That was 3 years ago and they still look good.

If you have rust, clean the rust off completely before painting. There are some paints designed to spray directly over rust, but I think it's best to remove it.

Rust-Oleum would be in my "limited supply, fixes everything" kit next to the gaffer's tape, 3M Super-77 spray adhesive, drywall screws, and zip-ties.

An easy and cheap way to get rid of rust is to cover it in ketchup, leave it on for a while, and then wipe it away. Highly effective too.

No need. Try leaving ketchup on a coin, for example, and watch it shine like new when you whipe the ketchup away. Just watch out, such an experiment may have a negative effect on your ketchup consumption...

If it's just small spots, clean it off and hit it with a Sharpie. The lazy bastard method. Sharpies go right next to Rust Oleum the gaffer's tape, 3M Super-77 spray adhesive, drywall screws, and zip-ties.

That would have been a sight for sore eyes! And, I don't think Mythbusters is aired here at the moment, but I think it may have been. Never watched it though.
