idk why,but i keep hearing people talking about ryan martinie lately...i'm some what of a mudvayne fan,but i'm not into them very much."lost and found" is the only album i have,and i didn't notice anything out of the ordinary with his bass playing on that album,or any other songs of theirs i've heard,just mainly root notes. but people say he's a sick player and that his basslines stand out like crazy.do you guys know any songs that his basslines stand out on?? if so than please show me,i'm eager to hear them :help:

I am not enamored of him or his band, his onstage antics and faces he makes and such are purely ludicrous and I am not a warwick fan. So why am I posting? I have listened to their stuff from early on in their career and will say that he chooses well when he plays as far as basslines and style, he does have more talent than is readily evident on any given song (and I have had to eat crow over this fact before) and his tone is very complimentary to the way he structures his basslines. If a guy who I can say all that negative stuff about still warrants all that positive stuff, I'd say he is pretty good.

You can still keep your Warwicks and Mudvayne CDs in your unlocked car, they are safe as far as I am concerned.

Ryan is actually an incredible musician. He's really techinical, can jump up and down the fretboard with no problem. His slap/tapping technique on LD50 made him a name.

What does it for me is that he's so into what he's playing. He is in his own self contained environment when he's playing. That's why his 'onstage antics' look so silly. He's doin work and isn't paying attention to anything going on around him. He made me realize that you don't have to wear your bass low to look cool in rock music.

I suppose you are right, but I still think he looks like a clown. They all do. I agree on the bass height thing as well. I don't see too many really good bassists playing with their bass at their knees, but I personally don't think he looks cool so much as doesn't particularly care. Fine by me.

I was just about to post on Ryan Martinie. I haven't listened to them in forever and when I did, I didn't play bass. But years have gone by and I've since been playing. I found an old compilation cd the other day and a couple Mudvayne tunes from Ld 50 were on there. I don't really dig the band much, except the drummer, or the tunes but his playing is undeniable.

What I just can't understand is why he changed his freakin tone?!!! His tone on Ld 50 was so dynamic. It really fit his playing. That wah sound he gets when playing chords and those little burpy fills he does were to die for. He sounds really good on that album. I hope he goes back to that type of tonage!
