WOW!! I had the EXACT one back in the hairband '80's!-- Sunburst w/ maple... It was my favorite bass-- to this day I don't know why I got rid of it! Probably because it had separate volumes and no master-- is that correct?

No, there is only one volume knob. It's a typical 2eq knob layout: volume/treble/bass.

I named my Sabre "Bigfoot." Because you'll always see pictures of them, but you'd never come across one in real life.

Hideous, not attractive or just plain ugly.

Many years ago, while speaking to a Ernie Ball personel, I asked why Sting Ray basses were not offered with 2 pickups like the Sabre basses. He blurted out that Sabre basses were butt ugly and didn't sell, that was the reason they discontinued it. But, he claimed that something was in the works as far as a 2 pickup model....which turned out to be the Bongo.

I own a 1979 Sabre bass....so the "butt ugly" comment always stuck with me....it kinda hurt.

Man, he said 'butt ugly' about the Sabre...? And then came up with the Bongo...!!!

Don't get me wrong, they sounds great, but at least IMHO Bongos are not exactly the greatest looking basses ever developed (dare I say 'butt ugly'...).
