Double Bass Saddle has become separated from slot - can I fix this myself ?

Hi

The saddle on my Christopher plywood bass is pulling away from its slot. It's been like this for a while, hasn't affected playability but I've noticed that the top is becoming slightly buckled against the saddle slot because of this. Plus it seems to be lifting more and more over time, so it seems like something I need to fix.

Is this something I can fix myself - can I just glue it back in place ?

I would let a luthier correct this as soon as possible. Might damage the top.

I have something similar on my bass but less than half as much and since the bass was built. So I assume the glue was not fixed when the bass was strung up. Nothing has changed in the last 25 years. And the last time a luthier has seen that he told me that the saddle is fixed.
But if that would happened later and the saddle is no longer fixed with glue, I would have a luthier fix it soon.

+1. The "buckling" at the end of the top is molto brutto. Get it fixed soon! You could do it yourself if you familiarize yourself with basic repair and setup techniques, but any proper repair person will do this for you quickly and cheaply.

This is common on Chrissies when you replace the coat hanger. I have done it myself, but if you have a close luthier quite the easy fix.
