Just wondering if both gauges have the same properties with tension being the only difference, or if there is a major 'vibe' difference between them.
I use the 45-105 set tuned down to Eb standard. I have tried the 40-100 set on a few basses and to me they seemed slightly more scooped in the mids and a bit lost in the mix. I noticed enough difference that I went back to the 45-105 sets both times. I also really love the tension of that set when tuned down to Eb (they are a bit tight for my taste when tuned to E standard).
The 45-105 Sadowsky's are easily my all time favorite flatwounds!
