Sadowsky MS5 pickup alternative?

Ok, so I have this super hot Sado MS5 for sale that didn't get so much interest yet...

If I keep it, I would like to try some other pickups in it. Stock pickups are the hum cancelling DiMarzio... I prefer single coils...

I'm looking for a brighter tone, just like my 2012 am std jazz 4 string... More bite.

I was thinking about the aero type 1. Any other suggestion?

The Sad Singles were not as I expected... They are very low-mid heavy to my ear... The Fender's single have more top end, and more bite in the high mid range.

The stock hum canceling PUs are close to what I want, but they are just a tad bit on the soft side... Of course, the high boost control on the pre-amp doesn't provide what I'm looking for. And they are not that much 'hum cancelling' really, probably due to the un-even coils (2+3)....

i think we're hearing things the same way but just defining frequencies differently. id say you might have a hard time finding something that would fit a sadowsky that sound like fender singles without going custom. almost all boutique winders go for that hotter overwound sound. havent tried the aguilars but they dont come in sad sizes. their 70's wind is supposedly pretty open sounding. MAYBE a set of aeros would do it for you. i had a set or aeros and nordstrands in a 5 string jazz and the aeros were more even and brighter than the nords.

Pretty interesting... Thanks for sharing your opinion about the Aero!!

Just to clarify a bit what I mean; when I talk about low-mids, it's in the 500Hz range. High-mid is 2000-6000Hz, and top-end is 8Khz+...

i definitely hear fender singles has having more top end and leaner in the low mids. i also hear the sad,nords and the like as having bigger low mids but grindier sounding high mids with a rolled off top end.

Then I'm going for Aero's. Hope they have Sadowsky's dimensions available...

If memory serves, I've had Aero's in an older Lakland Darryl Jones 5... I think that's what I need, but in the MS5 body... Could be a winner combo!!

I had Aero's in a DJ as well. Killer tone!
