Safety Razor

I currently use a Shick 5.

I'm thinking about switching to a safety razor.

Anybody use them?
I also shave my head.
Do you cut yourself?
is there models that better then the other?

Here's what I'm thinking

Gillette Fusion 5 Power Razors.

You can get 20 or more shaves per blade.

Just move the blade more slowly. Like mowing grass. Let the vibrating blade do the work.

Been using them for years in the shower along with some oil-based face soap to get super close shaves.

I don’t know about those safety razors. It seems like a technology that exists only for nostalgia. Modern razors are better in every way, IME IMO. But give it a shot right? Be careful. Good luck.

Have you been showering with me??????

This is exactly what I use..... with Shave Secret oil.

I have tried every kind of razor I can think of and keep coming back to these... even though I think they are overpriced. But they work. I can't argue with that. So I just added replacement blades to the boring list of Christmas present idea requests from family members. "Just grab me a pack of these blades" and I send them a link. :D If they are cheap, they get me a four pack from Wal-Mart. If not, they get a bigger pack from Sam's for $38. Either way, I haven't bought them in several years so it's working. ;)

I use one. FAR superior shave to anything else out there (except maybe a straight razor). And *way* cheaper (a year's blades - $20). Take your time, short strokes, good soap. And yes, you'll ding yourself a few times, but it's totally worth it. I'll never go back to anything else.

I've been using safety razor / brush and soap for over 10 years (I don't shave my head though). Best shaves ever. I use a straight razor on occasion.

I mainly use a Merkur 37C slant razor, Personna blades, a Shavemac 177 brush and Taylor Of Old Bond Street creams

where're you getting that deal?
That's not uncommon for safety razor blades.. I prefer and use the Personna Medical Prep blades. They're $32 for a pack of 100. A little more expensive but they're super sharp and hold their edge longer IME that other DE blades. One box will last me a year easily.

Best and closest shave you'll ever get hands down! (with the exception of a straight razor)...
I strongly recommend it. Merkur is a good brand and the blades are super inexpensive and last a good while.
The key is to shave with a really light touch and let the razor do the work. There is a learning curve in that regard but it's so worth it.
Nothing feels better than shaving your face with a fresh blade and putting on some lotion afterwards; super smooth skin.

Been using safety razors for ~5 years now: less cost, less waste, and a superior shave. I haven't had many issues with cutting myself, at least there was no discernible difference coming from the triple blade (or whatever) I used to use.

It seems to me that shaving razors and writing pens are two items that get progressively worse with new technology.

The safety razor is like the P-Bass of the razor world lol. Can't beat the tried and true classic.
