Lol.
I come from playing a melodic instrument (sax) and have always listened to music paying more attention to the the melody. Bass lines I'd create in my mind (to play along with songs on the stereo) was always more along the lines of a counter melody. Busy playing.
But more recently, as I've listened to more of the rhythm, I find that "busy" bass lines, the sort of stuff I would have really gotten into before, sort of a turnoff. Oftentimes, these bass patterns seem almost like someone saying, "Hey, look at me" as opposed to lines that would seem (imo only) to better support the song.
The salt thing popped into my head because I made some scrambled eggs this past weekend that tasted so bland and nasty. Downright disgusting. Yep, I forgot the dash of salt. Then it hit me how just the right amount of salt can make or break a dish.
As you can probably tell, I am totally bored.
