For $69, it would be hard to go wrong. There are sets of strings that cost more than that!

I'm tempted but I am planning on a boutique bass savings account. A few $ here and there, and I'll never save anything.

My dad has one and It sounds amazing with Elixirs.

I'm pretty sure the neck width/string spacing is a little narrower than average, so if you're used to 5ers it may feel a little off, but I like how it feels.

My first 5-string was a Samick, pretty similar to that. I did a lot of practicing on it - strung it up with a high C & shedded some Bach cello suites.

Heh, I thought a few hundred bucks was a real score in 1992. (Oh, well - I got my kicks.)

For my purposes now, I would not acquire that axe again - not even for free. (But if I were looking for a beater or something to experiment on, I might try lowballing for it.)

If you don't really need/want another 5er then I would throw that cash in the boutique savings fund. $69 is definitely a deal but a deal doesn't mean much if the item is of no use to you. I guess you could buy it and flip it but I don't you make too much profit from reselling a Samick. I say hold out for something real nice, we all know you deserve it .

My dad has a version in black and it sounds absolutely amazing strung with a set of Elixirs.
