I love everything about it. I have a Lionel as well and it's hard to pick a favorite.
I usually struggle when the upper horn doesn't reach the 12th fret, but NOT the case with the Florence.
Also, I am not a slab body fan, but this one makes a liar out of me in that aspect as well. Hope you enjoy yours!!

It is definitely the highest quality bass I’ve ever owned!

As the TBer @LennyJ bought this bass from before @45cmckay105 got it, I can vouch for its stellar quality in every way.

Can you please offer any comparisons between the necks on these to the ones on the Lionels? Thanks!

I'll do my best. I have heard/ watched several reviews on-line (check out Patrick Hunter's SANDBERG sponsored review) describe this Florence neck as "thin." Depending which listing or resources you believe, I have seen the Lionel listed as a 1.53" nut and the Florence listed as 1.55" nut. To my left hand, and a quick metal rule check, the width at the nut feels and looks identical to the Lionel. However, both my Sandberg basses' nuts are slightly tapered from top to bottom, so I'll need to try to find my slide calipers to confirm this.

Where I notice the difference, is the profile thickness. My Lionel has a soft aged (not roasted) satin vintage tint maple neck/board, and the Florence is noticeably, all be it slightly, thinner from front to back. Lenny and I were jawing about this bass and I remember him saying "if you love your Lionel neck, you'll love this one too," which I consider a true statement.

As a similar short scale point of reference, I didn't get along with the necks on the G&L Fullerton Fallout or Alien Audio Constellation. I can comfortably play most any short scale with a nut width of 1.625" or less, but the profile is where I start to struggle. Both the Fallout and Constellation were too thick front to back at the first fret for my liking. Not an issue for me with the Lionel or Florence.

All this being said, the Florence is a bit slimmer and faster to my left hand. As stated, if I can find my slide calipers I will attempt to further quantify this description. Hope this is helpful.

This is extremely helpful thank you— you hit on the exact points I was wondering about. I loved the neck on the Lionel so much that I impulse bought a SL TT short scale here. I’ve played them both a lot and found that I prefer the neck on the SL TT because it seems slightly thinner with a less full profile. I don’t suppose I could tempt you with another maple neck & board Lionel in trade?

When I had both this bass and my Lionels - they felt almost the same to me. The finish on this one is smoother than my aged Lionel. Hope this helps.

Agree with LennyJ here as well. While the aged satin tint on my Lionel is not al all sticky, the Florence neck is a smoother matte finish!

Awesome thanks! If this lasts long enough for Lenny to sell his 2nd Lionel and for me to sell mine afterwards (no interest in having competing ads with Lenny haha) I will likely come calling. Btw does anyone know what happened to the “e”?

Ha! I never asked Lenny or Soxhats about the “e.”

Man - I owned it and never noticed that. LOL

I checked the photos when I bought it and there was no "e" on it so that is the way it was when I sold it. Maybe it came off or that is a factory mistake on this one bass.
