I have tried approx. three times the Sansamp BDDI over the years under different circumstances and rigs. I never really bonded with the Sansamp and sold them every time..... I decided to give it another shot this week, as I was looking to get that Ampeg all tube warmth ( I had tried some all tube heads al so tin the recent weeks, but never got to my head that I would carry 80 pounds heads and break my back..... ) and decided to buy another Sansamp BDDI - 1st version.
Well, all that to say that with my Seymour Duncan Studio bass compressor and with the added grit of the Darkglass Vintage microtubes, I found THE tone I was looking for!!! I am adding the warmth of the Sansamp and it is wonderful!!!! It makes the entire rig alive and kicking some serious perfect creamy Tone!!!! I am not a big fan of the overdrive I am getting out of the Sansamp and much prefer the Darkglass VMT for that!!!
Honestly, I don't know what was wrong with me a few years back!! And now, I can say I simulate the SVT all tube warmth and carry only the MarkBass rig ( Jeff Berlin combo on top of a MarkBass 115 Traveler cab ) and the pedals and I am in heaven!!!
Definitely a great tool to have in my arsenal, finally !!!!
