Sansamp BDDI & ParaDI & VT Bass...

Hey guys. I really need some help on this one. I've always been a direct bass-to-amp guy. But now needed, I am trying to make a choice between Sansamp BBDI and Paradriver. Puzzled enough, i bumped into the VT Bass which sounds also interesting. And i can't make a comparison. I can't try them at all because the dealer in istanbul (thats where i live) don't have them all in stock.

Anyway there are lots of threads about BDDI & Para & VT bass. They sort of help me out but regarding the specific sounds I'm after, I guess only experienced users can help me.

So here's the situation: I want to use it both for gigs and for home recording. (Using passive jazz basses)

For gigs: I have two bands. One is a proggresive rock band which i kinda go for a Geddy Lee tone. With the other band we play funk jazz. And that's where i try to go for sort of a Jaco vibe with a modern sound, saay, like Jamiroquai... Not really trying to sound like them. Just to give you the color of tones that i'm after. For home recording: I just need coloring my tone with it before the audio interface.

I know this pedals are all known to be versatile in trying to achieve what i want. But which one to get? Oh, btw, does a VT Bass also act like a DI? Can I run it through the PA on gigs?

Many thanks

Hey there,
I'm in a very similar situation to yourself regarding deciding on a sansamp,so I will be keeping an eye on this thread.
I can tell you however that the sansamp VT doesn't have an on-board D.I,unless you go for the deluxe model.
The manufacturer actually has an account on here,so I'm sure you'll be able to get some good adivce.

Im considering this too, also have never run preamps before...
I'm currently trying to decide on my tone(s)
(havent found my flavor yet, don't play out much other than church) and whether to get a plain DI or Preamp DI, and IF I get a preamp DI; Which one? :hmm:

I definitely want to be able to capture the VT sound, but dont want to be limited to it- Can the Deluxe BDDI get anything close to the tubeyness of the VTBass ?
also
I've only run a Sansamp once in my life...How "good" is the DI function on the Tech 21 Stuff? is it closer to Radial/Countryman, or bottom of the barrel crap?

Also still looking at Hartke Bass Attack and Radial Tonebone, but its mostly between the BDDI and VT Bass

Decisions decisions...
