Sansamp blend & EQ questions

Considering making the switch back to some old school gear, BDDI or RPM. Do the EQ adjustments on the Sansamp products only effect the 'wet' portion of the blend knob? Does the blend only 'blend' in the drive, or is the blend controlling the wet/dry mix of completely uneffected bass signal -> Sansamp signal? Want to be able to control drive amount but still use EQ to control clean signal.
 
Ok, I just went home for lunch and tried my v1 BDDI. In bypass, none of the controls work. When it's active and the blend control is turned down all the way, the treble and bass controls still work. Drive and presence do not. Here's my problem with the BDDI: The higher you turn the blend knob, the more it sucks out your mids (in the 750hz area). With the blend knob up, you get their tube emulation and maybe a little compression too.
 
You may find the latest BDDI V2 is a little better in the mids area. On the earlier versions you had to overcome the natural mid scoop by turning down the highs and lows and increasing overall gain/volume. The V2's presence control is also a lot smoother and more usable IMO.

YMMV but I've never had a problem keeping the mids with mine. With the Blend cranked, yes you will lose mids, but I like to put mine around 10-12 o'clock . You still retain the powerful presence and warmth while not losing mids

The way the pedal works is in bypass mode it functions as a regular DI. It will convert your high Z signal to low Z so your instrument can be run directly to a mixer. With the Blend set off or counterclockwise and the Mid, Treble and Bass at Noon the frequency response is still flat. It can be used as a clean DI with additional tonal shaping. The Blend control brings in the SansAmp circuit and the tone controls work on both the un-effected sound and the SansAmp portion of the circuit. The SansAmp circuit does have a midrange notch that is inherent in the voicing (like most amps) but you also need to consider what you are plugging into. Most amplifiers are not totally flat.

If you want one of our products but need more midrange control we would suggest trying our Para Driver/VT Bass DI's or the DI-2112.
