Sansamp RBI as a head?

Anyone run just a sansamp into their cab? I'm getting one real soon and am also purchasing a power amp within the next few months for it. Just wondering if its jamable without the power amp. (Noob question I know I just want to double check)

Just checking. Also, if I did my math right this is correct.

My cab: http://www.ampeg.com/products/classic/svt610hlf/
RMS - 600w @ 4 ohms

The power amp i'm getting: [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

Those two should work okay correct? As the spec sheet says at 4 ohms I'll be getting around 500w which should give me a cushion of 100 before I blow my cab. Again noob questions, I just want to double check before I drop all this money on new gear this summer. Thanks again for your patience and helping me out. It's greatly appreciated.

I guess you'll be bridging it, be careful or you'll blow your cab. I'd run it on one channel and see how that goes. 500W should be enough to rattle your fillings.

Yeah, just be careful either way. Bridged mono would make more sense if it were an 8 ohm enclosure. Look at the bright side: if a single channel does the trick, you've now got a spare. Having more power than required is not a bad thing.

The idea of having a 100W "cushion" is a figment of imagination. 500W RMS gives peak wattage very much higher. Peaks blow cones.

Most of the time you only use a fraction of the available power. The extra only comes into play to give you the full dynamic.

That's actually what I was thinking of. After An all nighter of research (hooray for college summer break), I'm looking at the XLS 1500, running it in stereo and using only one channel to get around 525w per channel.
