Sansamp RBI possible problem

After correcting my ground issue with my bass I thought I would hook the preamp up with the 1/4" instead of the xlr. Well the level control on the front does not work. All volume now is by the power amp ( Crown XLS1500 ). The drive, presence, blend, bass & treble work, just not the level control. When the preamp was hooked up before with the xlr connection the xlr control on the front worked. Is this normal or a bad pre?

It's possible you have a defective unit. The only other thing I can think of is that maybe you plugged into the preamp send instead of the 1/4" out. If not, you should get an RA from our tech support team and send it back for service. Be sure to give a detailed description of the problem.

I bought my RBI online from an Ebay seller. It has the same issue as the OP, no level control and no to very little change when using the drive control. I have yet to use an XLR cable (need to buy one), so I will hold out returning it until I try that route.
BTW, this unit is fairly basic and the instructions are easy to understand. Using input 2 there SHOULD be an adjustable signal from the Sansamp 1/4" output. I have a signal, but only the tone controls (presence, B,M,T controls are effective). So, I can only surmise the unit is defective.
