SansAmp RBI

What is it exactly? I was going to get a QSC RMX850 power amp and a RBI, because my friend has the QSC and a SansAmp RBI Preamp and he gets a sweet sound out of his amps/cabinets/bass and I was wanting to get one and run it with the QSC as my friend does with it but I dont want to purchase something I dont truly know what it is. Any info about it would be highly appreciated.

The Sansamp RBI is a 19" pre-amp with a sound somewhat comparable to a tube-amp. I like it a lot, espessially to make a dirty overdrive bass sound.

so could i use that with my peavey mark III bass head? I guess the question im asking is it just a head for a cabinet or is it something that gives it more power or what? but thanks for the info man.

A pre amp provides the tone and tone shaping for your set up, it does not provide any power. The usual set up is a preamp (providing the tone) run into a power amp, which provides power, then run into a cab.

Yes you can. I've used the Sansamp RBI with my Peavey T-max amp. You can you your amp as poweramp and use the RBI as preamp.
I've traded my Sansamp for a Ampeg SVP Pro. The RBI overdrive coloured my sound to much. Anyway it's a very nice preamp though. Goodluck!

Thanks that really helped. So I can just run my head I have in the cabs and then run the RBI into the head?

Yeah the RBI has an instrument level switch on the back. So basically you can run it as a kind of effect.
But I recommend to put an cable between the "Power Amp in" on your Peavey to the Pre-amp out on your RBI.

so i just need to run the RBI to the power amp spot? then itll run through both the Peavey BAM 2x10 and Black Widow 1x18 perfectly? or can i just not use the Mark III and just run the RBI in the amp diectly on the BAM?

If this is your current setup;
Peavey Mark speaker output 1 --> Peavey BAM
Peavey Mark speaker output 2 --> Peavey Widow

Then you can run the RBI to the power amp spot of the Peavey Mark and it will be just fine.
