Sansamp RPM background noise

So I got a sansamp rpm, but when I ply it into the return of my amps fix loop, there’s a bunch of background noise, and strangely, when I touch the sansamp, the sound is amplified. It’s almost like it’s and unplugged instrument cable that’s only connected to the amp. However when I plug into the front of the amp, this noise disappears.

Is your Sansamp plugged into the same power outlet as the bass amp?

Do you get the same type of background noise when you plug your bass directly into the amps fx return?

No the sound is ONLY present when being plugged in to the Fox return

Which amp are you using? I was thinking possibly a ground issue but if it doesn't happen when you plug into the front it wouldn't happen in the loop. Is anything else in the signal chain? Also, usually when people use the RPM in the loop they are only using the effects return and are bypassing the send. If you are running the RPM as an insert effect it could be a bit noisier as you will be adding gain after your amps preamp section.

No it makes noise when I plug my bass into the rpm into the fx return. This should avoid the preamp, correct?

So you only have your bass plugged into the input of the RPM and the 1/4" SansAmp output goes to your amps effects return (which amp are you using) and you get noise? Does the noise go away when you lower your instruments volume? Also, what are the settings on the RPM? Does this happen in every location with different cables? Is the RPM on your bass amp connected to any other piece of equipment?
