Sansamp RPM chain switching question

I currently do not own a RBI, though I have tried them out before and absolutely love them and plan on getting one in the near future. I have heard that you can chain these into another RPM or RBI and toggle between the two. From what I can gather on the tech21 website and the web, an on/off footswitch goes into the footswitch in jack on the back of the RPM. Then a cable goes from the footswitch out jack on the back of the RPM to another RPM or RBI. Could you connect the footswitch out to a tuner and toggle between the tuner and RPM to act like a mute switch? I really dont even know for certain if this is the way the preamps are chained, I have no access to an owner's manual or diagrams or whatnot. Only what I can surmise from the website and this forum. If this is a possibility, I would really appreciate some input from those who have experimented around with this.

Ok, i just scoped out the RBI owner's manual online. It looks to me like you might be able to run a signal out of the sansamp 1/4" jack (affected) on the back into the tuner and use the on/off footswitch to switch the amp from being on or "off" so that in the off position, the signal is being sent to the tuner. I dont know for sure if this would work or not without having a RPM or RBI handy. Has anyone messed around with this?

The foot switch activates the RBI, it doesn't turn the sound on and off. When the unit is inactive sound still comes through but the sound is not effected by the front panel controls.

The idea of chaining two RBI's is that one unit is active and the other is not. If the first is active then the signal is modified in the first unit before running into the second, it then runs through this unmodified to the power amp. When the foot switch is pressed the signal passes through the first unit unmodified and is then modified by the second.

If your tuner does not have a mute switch you could use an A/B switch to switch between RBI to Amp and RBI to Tuner. This would effectively mute the sound when tuning.

Theres alot of things you can do with an RBI & RPM.Heaps of ways to connect them. They are the best value Preamp on the market with all of them outputs & connections.... anythings possible !
I would love to see tube versions of them though.
