I've seen a lot of VT pedals come up for sale in the accessories forum lately. I'm curious how many have bought them, only to sell or return them, and how many are keepers.

Please list the reason for your answer.

Well... I guess it ain't gettin' moved and it ain't gettin' any action, and I cain't delete the thread or move it, so ???

We have three votes, but no reasons why.

In JimmyM's comparison between the real SVT and the VT pedal, I liked the pedal sound better. It was a bit warmer sounding.

I bought 1, then another with the intent to use both for different things. One for more edgy aggressive sound with a bit of grit, and the other for a dubby reggea country type sound.

I found that the smoother sound lacked definition that I like in my sounds, so I sold that one. Over time I found that I really liked the sound of the VT for my slight grit edgy sound, but found that when I dial in enough gain for my low notes to have the grit I want then high notes are very gritty and lack definition and then don't cut through in a mix... so as of this morning I sold that one also.

To solve the mellow dubby sound problem I purchase a Electronix Submarine and am VERY VERY happy with it. It stays on all the time in fact as it overall improves my preferred sounds, so I adjust eq with a Boss EQ-20 to go from a Jamiroquai fingerfunk sound to a smooth dubby sound.

I'm still undecided what to get for my slight tube grit/hair needs. Waffling on a Sparkle Drive, MI Blue Boy Deluxe, or a Barber LTD SR.

So I really liked the sounds and found it a great pedal, I just chose to go with separate pedals doing different approaches.

I used mine live for the first time this weekend. Used a house rig of a GK800 and an unknown 2x15 cab. This is definitely NOT my kind of rig. With the VT I was easily able to get a sound I could live with. I need to spend some more time working with it, but so far I'm quite impressed with this little pedal. I'm keeping mine.

The VT is a backup for my current rig (Low End TrueVoice + Linden EQ). In my VT vs. TV-Linden comparison vs. a '63 B-15, the bottom line is that they are all close to some degree. The VT is not as warm as the TV-Linden combo, and I don't love it as much as some here, but it's a good piece of kit that will serve my purpose. It's definitely better than a Pod or other emulations.

If you don't like an Ampeg-y sound, you're not going to like the VT. Simple as that.

I used to own a valvedrive and I just got a VT bass. The ValveDrive does tube emulation very well. It does an especially good job of getting the 'feel' of a tube amp. I wouldn't say it sounds like an SVT though.

The VT Bass sounds astonishingly close to an SVT. It doesn't replicate the feel of an all-tube amp, but the sound is 90% there.

Two very different products. Both great, but the VT Bass is better-suited to the gigs I'm playing right now.

Voted it's a keeper for me.
I am also a fan of the compact real tube true-voices.
The VT-bass pedal is the best Ampeg-in-a-can piece of gear out there.
This pedal has the ability to improve the tone for most any sort of backline.

Since I am schlepping my own schtuff nowadays,the
smaller/lighter=the better.
Therefore...
Before I place anything in my gig-bag,it first has to earn it's spot,make the cut.

The VT,and the Para-Driver DI are the only two tone pedals,
that have become permanent residents in my gig-bag.
The VT is like my swiss army knife for tone.

Tech 21,has hit a home run with the VT.
Knocked it clear out of the park...
