Save Shipping costs? Taking off neck?

I remember doing it once at the buyer's request.
Then when the parcel arrived, he said the neck bolts were missing and all the hardware was gold on that instrument and he was in South America and it was kind of a big headache.
I'm still pretty sure the bolts were in fact there. Maybe they wound up on his floor during the unpacking.
Something to watch out for, I guess. Otherwise the process went fairly smooth.
Definitely communicate with the buyer and trust them enough to reinstall a neck without mucking things up.

I only did this with a top "A" class TBer who I had belonged to the same thread club for many years.
