Here is an old Global that I pulled out of the trash in June of 21. I'm no guitar expert but I have made several CBG's. I had to adjust the truss rod and shim the neck, (the action was about 1/4" high at the 12th fret), replace the tuning machines and install a new bridge about 1/4" further back. Now I need to strip it all apart again, sand the heck out of it and put several coats of shellac on it.

I rescued an Ibanez Silver Series Jazz from the trash once. With a case. It was in awesome condition, too. I sold it to a mate after putting Custom Shop pickups in it. It’s a beautiful bass.

"Tort"? Are you referring to the pickguard? That's the one that was on it. I just removed all of the nasty paint from it.

Congrats! That's a fun project.

When I got my Fodera a few years ago, I thought it would be funny to make a new bass day thread about finding it in a garbage can on trash day. I would have removed a string to make it look like someone discarded it because of a missing string. I didn't go through with it because it was winter.

I actually like the green finish better; green basses are rarely seen. Pickups appear to be Maxons, and if so that's a win.

It was green latex paint put on with a brush. It was an awful job.

Right. So I would not like *that* particular green job. My formerly black 71 P has a brush-on finish that has humps in it, like the owner could not be bothered to brush off the excess on the can rim but just went full speed ahead.

And DONE! I ended up going with Varathane finish. I really wanted amber shellac but HD or Lowes didn't have it. I think it turned out pretty good for my first guitar project. I might have to make thinner shim for the neck. I'm going to give it a few days and see if the neck "settles in".

I keep looking in dumpsters, but am yet to find a bass. I did rescue and repair a banjo from the tip once, trouble is I can't play banjo.

Every trash night during the summer, I take a ride around the neighborhood on my way up to get my nightly beers. I've pulled a LOT of good stuff out of the trash.
