Well I pulled the trigger. After considering a G&L Tribute L2500 and even a Fender American Standard 5 string P bass I ended up ordering a used (But in new condition) SBMM Ray 35 5 string bass.
I LOVE the SBMM Ray34 bass I own and after playing 6 string basses (Modulus and Carvin) for a long time I really enjoy the ease of playing a 4 string bass. But my band plays songs that really need the low B string every now and then so after considering the above mentioned basses, haggling for price and either not getting my price or finding other instruments and calling the stores only to find that they have been beat to hell or JUST SOLD I decided to go with the Sterling Ray35. MY Ray34 is white and the Ray35 is black. They will look killer sitting next to each other on stage!
The Ray 35 should be delivered early next week, probably next Tuesday. It'll ship tomorrow then I'll have the tracking number and will know when to expect it. After it arrives I'll adjust the neck (If needed) change the strings (If needed) play the hell out of it, then post a review with photos. Of course ALL the black Ray35s look exactly the same but i'll post a photo anyway.
Soooooo I'll have a Ray34 and Ray35 on stage for all to see weekend after weekend. I think SBMM should give me an endorsement deal!
