Scared of my computer

Do you remember if you got a restore disc when you got the computer?

If you did not, you may have a restore partition on your hard drive. You usually can access it by hitting F10 or F11 ( I cant remember which) on start up. BUT, before you try this make sure you have the XP product key number. There should be a Windows XP sticker on the back or on the inside of the cover with this number.

I would contact Gateway to double check what I have stated before you do it. Just tell them that you are trying to reformat and reload windows and you want to know if there is a restore partition on your hard drive because you don't have a restore disc.

If they tell you there is no partition on your model you are pretty much SOL without a copy of windows, or restore disc.

You can take it to a local PC shop to have them fix it or put up with it and wait until Norton comes up with a fix for it.

Did you try liveupdate yet?
