I have a schecter custom 4 , w/ active preamp,EMGHZ passive
pups,? . Two questions, If my pickups are passive,Does that mean I can plug into the passive input of my amp?
Other question, according to the wiring diagram from EMG, I can ad another 9v battery to make it 18 volts. inside the cover plate there are two extra wires w/nothing attached, black & red (the same as the color as the battery wires.
The EMG diagram says it will not increase the output but will provide more headroom. What does this mean?

i can answer your first question. yes, you can plug into the passive input of your amp. even with active pups you can plug into the passive.

i have both inputs on my amp and the only thing i've noticed with my passive basses is that it's "louder" in the passive input.

i'm not sure about the other question because i haven't had an active bass before. i'm sure someone with a little more background in that dept will answer you.

check the schecter thread for info on the 18v 'mod'. basically you will have better clarity with no change in volume. i'm not sure why you would have two dead leads inside, mine didn't have any loose wires stock? in the schecter thread you will see how to use two extra battery clips from radio shack to wire in the extra battery without soldering, it's really simple.
