Hey folks, just found a brand new Schecter Diamond J for next to nothing ($275 CAD) :hyper: and was wondering if anybody has ever replaced the neck on one? The pocket looked deceptively square, and it's not like I could take neck off in the store. FYI: Why do I want to replace the neck? I don't right now, I just don't purchase basses that I can't replace every single part on. I am going to email Allparts and Warmoth etc. but thought I would check here first. If anybody knows, please help me out, it's the last deciding factor on this purchase. :D

ThaLowEndTheory: Thanks for the responce, I was just looking at Tele necks on allparts and wondering if they would work. Schecter hasn't got back to me (asked them for specs) neither has Allparts or Warmoth. Someone has to know something! I love the build, tone and quality of this bass, a very unique jazz for sure :D

fender j necks have a rounded heel and only 20 frets, unlike the picture earlier in this thread, so I would bet that no, it not a drop-in replacement for a diamond j. The neck does kinda look like old usa peavey necks.

This is a mid nineties mia peavey foundation, notice the heel shape, also with 21 frets.

I'm not saying that they would be a direct replacement, but at least the length should be close to correct, as opposed to the 20-fret fender necks. :hmm:
