Schecter Model T or MIM Jazz?

Ok guys, I'm new here and I'm a very new player. I've been a working drummer for a long time but recently switched to bass and I think I love it more than drumming.

Anyway. I play a piece of crap learner Yamaha right now and I have a chance to trade in a pile of drum equipment for a new bass. Every time I pick up a Jazz I love it and my fingers seem to fly. On the other hand, I have an opportunity to pick up a sweet butterscotch Schecter Model T, which I am finding is a really good quality bass. However, when I tried it out it felt like playing a 2x4 to me. Just a big hunk of wood.

Here's the question: A newbie like me would benefit from an easier-playing bass, but won't I "grow into it" eventually, so to speak, as I get better and better. I practice alot and I take it seriously.

What would you guys do? An easier-feeling MIM Jazz (red, which I hate), or the hunk of Shecter?

Personally I would go for the bass that is more difficult to play. Reason being is simple:

You have a bicycle and a tricycle. The tricycle is obviously going to be easier to ride, but if you take the time to master the bicycle you know you'll have no problem with the tricycle down the line.

I think the more important question isn't the difficulty of play as opposed to the tone and sound of the bass. If it doesn't sound good you won't be happy with it. I have a 6 string Galveston that looks like I picked it up from a junk yard, and its heavy, but I love the sound!

Added note to that: As much as specs and brands make choices easier for us its how YOU feel about the sound that maters.

Had a Mesa Boogie amp few years book (can't remember model), bought it because it was best of the best. Returned it after 2 months, not because it was bad or anything, I just couldn't dial in the sound I wanted no mater how I tried.

Go with your ear above all else.

It occurred to me I never posted pics. After a few months of playing this, I absolutely love it. Thanks again guys!
