Schecter string options

So I'm loving my new stiletto custom 6. It came with elixir strings and the time to replace them is nigh. Who has experience with EMG 45 HZ pickups and can advise me on string choice? Are flatwounds a good idea?
Also I'm having trouble finding any information about setting my pickup height and such, if anyone has clues about how to find that out I'd be much obliged.

Mayhaps I should have mentioned that I use it mostly for jazz.

Ive never thought flats a good idea myself. But, lol. many like them. EMG current hz pups are very good imo. When Ive had them Ive used rotosound and ernie ball roundwound strings with. I'm not a fan of elixer strings for sound. What sound tweak are you wanting new strings to give? If your wanting duller sound then flats are reasonable. If just wanting mellower but still roundwoundish, daddario. For retaining crunch rotosound, ghs, ernie ball are good choices. For brighter sound but still haveing crack of thunder lows dean markley blue steel are good choice.

Tons of jazz players and my faves from that genre use roundwounds for strings. Really just depends if your wanting the duller sound flats give or not.

I play Chromes on a Jackson with the HZ's. When i switched to flats on it, I was shocked at how much better it sounded. The frequency response of the HZ's lets the flats stay punchy. I really like the EMG's with flats, trough a tube amp and 15's. easy to get nice mellow sounds, or bite up the mix real hard. Highly recommended

absolutely. I have a 4 string Schecter Diamond Custom 4 (before they were dubbed Stilleto, but the same bass). I used pretty much all major known nickle rounds in the market, but never did I went beyond "OK sounding". Then I threw a set of Labellas 760FS, more than a year ago. The bass came totally alive. I completely disagree with the above statement that flats give a duller sound. On this particular bass, flats gve so much ich tone that I remained my main (and now, only) bass. And I'm planning to keep it strung with the very same set for years to come. Don't be afraid to try it.

Of the 3 music shops nearest me there are a whopping two brands of 6 string choices, so that's a big drawback. I'm quite finished with D'addario so I believe I'll try the Dean Markleys until I can find somewhere with more strings. Thanks guys

Dude. I have a Schecter Elite with the same kind of pickups and I tried flat wounds on them a while back. Absolutely hated how it sounded. Couldn't get any mids worth a darn no matter how much I played with the eq. Hope that helps. I've actually had the same kind of experience with them.

On a side note. Half rounds by D'Addario didn't sound too bad on them. Kind of a flat wound feel with a round wound sound.
