Schecter Ultracure Bass VI - anyone?

No problem. Apologies for the terrible performance and limited canvas of sounds/tones. I took six months off work - best six months of my life - and recently got back to it so have been busier than usual. I haven't played much the last year or so, though, but wanted to get something posted. Will try to get something else up in the somewhat near-future.

I will try to record the different pickup/tone configurations and post that. I think that will be more useful for most folks. It can get close in tone to the P, but the P bass just sounds much fuller, in my opinion. The UC would be great for darker stuff - like The Cure of course, but I could even see it in surf music, or in something like The Raveonettes. It's a quirky instrument, but I am digging it.

Long time no post... Been fooling with a new setup while working away from home. Brought my Ultracure with me, and have been enjoying it. Posted this in another thread, where I was complaining about technology, but wanted to post here, too:

Playing is awful, as always, but just doing idea capturing at this point. I threw this video together to impress friends at home with my exciting drive to work :)

Will post more Ultracure tracks as I have them.

It's funny, this was posted so long ago, I barely remember posting it. I got caught up in many other aspects of life, over the last seven years or so, and haven't spent too much time on Talkbass. Recently, though, I was up browsing the classifieds, and saw that there was activity on this thread.

Thought I would update a bit, since I am here.

I still have the Ultracure, and it still gets playing time. Me and my writing partner released a batch of songs at the end of 2017. Two of them had a good bit of the UC on them. On Drive, it was used for the main rhythm part, as well as second lead part:

On Transformation, it was used as the lead on the "chorus" part of the song - tons of delay and reverb on it. It's the parts without spoken word over them - first one is right about 1:23 in:

We are working on a new batch of music, and it will be used on multiple tracks again. Happy to share and update, as I remember. Feel free to message me or post here with questions, if you have them.

On the bass front, I found that out of the very many basses I have, I am using a Matt Freeman Squier the most, and I just bought a Steve Harris signature from another TB user. Will see how that sounds. I have owned American P basses, and other expensive basses - Ricks, Warwicks, etc. However, I don't treat instruments with any type of affection, so never like spending too much on instruments. Also, honestly, I really like the way the MF sounds, and can't see myself wanting to replace it any time soon.

The Steve Harris was just something that I wanted to try since they originally came out in the early 2000s, and I think that the insanity of being stuck at home for three months finally got the best of me. When I saw it come up for sale, I made an impulse buy.

Hope everyone is doing well, and thanks for the folks who've been popping up in this thread. If you use an UC, and want to share any tracks, please feel free to do so - I'd like hearing other folks take on it.

Can't believe that it's been ten years since I originally posted. I have not spent too much time on Talkbass over those years - life can be a hectic mess sometimes. I was thinking about moving my Ultracure along, and was doing a search for details with regard to what they might be going for, and this thread popped up in the list of results : )

So, talk about bringing a dead thread back ...

Reading through and seeing the stuff I shared, I thought I would also share something from the final release of our project that has some Ultracure parts in it:

It is mainly used as 2nd/3rd guitar - you can hear it behind the main guitar clearly at 1:20-1:22 - and it pops up here and there throughout the song.

I still enjoy it - it is a great instrument. But, my music partner died while we were recording the last album. It took me a couple of years to finish it and, at this point, I am in the mindset of moving stuff out instead of hanging onto things that I don't use regularly.

May get it posted up here - nothing moves quickly these days it seems. But, as mentioned, was fun to see this thread pop up, so figured I'd share another example of the instrument.

Anyone still here from ten years ago, hope that you have been well.

Oh, and a quick follow-up to the post from 2020 - I still use the Matt Freeman Squier as my main bass : ) It just clicks all the boxes. The Steve Harris is awesome - I still have it. But, as a guy in my 50s who never took great care of myself, it's just too heavy for any long playing time.
