scratchy volume pot on bass...which product

I have a scratchy volume pot on my elrick and canned air is not fixing the job...
I have done a little bit of research...Fodera recommends "Statx" Anti-static spray" and others have used "Deoxit"..

which have you used?...or do you need both products...also if you could forward me a link that would be great, I need to purchase...also if it was Canadian based it would be better...

I had a scratchy pot on a MIA jazz bass and I just used generic contact cleaner from The Source and it's been perfect since. I think the brand is nexxtek or something like that. I'm in Canada too, it should be easy enough to find a Source store nearby. I can't remember what it cost but it was cheap and it worked perfectly.

Deoxit comes in different solutions. The D100 is 100% Deoxit with no solvent and is the best. You have to rotate the pot quickly end to end about fifty times after a spray to clean the dirt away since the harsh solvent isn't there to flood the dirt away but it works very well. A can will last you for years. You can spray it on a rag to clean and deoxidize your strings too.

It'll cost 20 bucks or so. I found a good price on eBay. I didn't know L&m had it but iLife live in small town Manitoba and mail order was easy and likely cheaper than driving to Winnipeg.

The other Brands I've tried just don't work as well and have solvents. Solvent eats away at the carbon track I have heard.

This. ^^^

But what I've read is actually happening is that the wiper is "polishing" any corrosion off the disk that would have been disrupting contact between the wiper and disk.

I've never used any chemicals/sprays to address this issue. My technique: press outside edge of my hand against control Push hand forward and pull back to find the extreme ends of the pot's travel. Then rapidly spin it back and forth a dozen or so times. You can also focus the back-and-forth on small ranges as needed. YMMV
