Search for new electronics

Hi,
I got a Spector Legend 4 NT bass and I like it, but I have a little problem because I´m not that happy with the electronics. I can´t angle the sound the way I want. E.g. I turn on the back Pickup, if this is the case I only can hear this Pickup. The other way around its the same.. so I havent the chance to mix both Pickups up to have the Sound which fits best to the piece I play. So my question is if it would make sense to buy new electronics and if this is the case which could fit to my bass. PS this bass is a jazz bass and I also want a jazz sound.

These are my Pickups and my active tone circuit
• High Impedance, Passive, USA EMG-HZ pickups with 3 Band EMG active tone circuit

I´m sorry for my bad english and thank you for help

FWIW:

sounds miswired. I'm guessing either it hasn't always been this way or somebody's jacked with the wiring.

There are wiring diagrams for the pups and pre on the EMG site. Could be Spector has the diagrams listed for the bass on their site as well.

You might also check out FAQ Dimento's Trouble Shooting Guide.

FWIW:

You never said what the controls are but if you've got two pickups and either two volumes or volume/blend, both pups work but you can't blend the pickups - then you've got a miswired bass in some form or you don't know how to work the controls. The Legend listed at MF only has 4 conrols that I can tell and says it has a 2 band preamp. Yours maybe different, maybe not?

You could replace the electronics but if you can't figure out what's wrong with the ones you have, you probably would have trouble swapping electronics cause you need to be able to trouble shoot it since you will likely encounter problems.

I've had botht eh HZ pups and EMG 3 band EQ with no issues. They work fine.

I suppose another possibility (albeit remote) is the bass has the EMG active blend which EMG states on their site is NOT to be used with passive pickups which HZ‘s are. There’s a pic of the blend on their site.
