I have a B7K. That's all I'd ever need for a preamp/DI/EQ/umpff pedal. And that wasn't cheap either. But $600?! I could find a bangin ass used head for that amount.
I've recorded through one on several occasions and it did sound really good. But I wouldn't pay $600 for one.
Here's one on eBay. Sitting at $200 with 5 days left in the auction. I'm watching it but I think I will save for a REDDI.

I think the SVT-DI is good in the way that hybrid amps are good. If that's your thing, then it would probably be totally worth the money. Me, I'd rather put together another hundy and get a REDDI and get proper tube amp sound.
Is that what the REDDI is, a sort of tube emulator?? I keep seeing people go on about that thing and I barely know what it is. I'll google it again.
What I gather is most of its "magic" and size is in its huge transformer. Makes your bass sound HighDefinition. I don't have one, that's the sum of what I've heard about it on TB.
Reddi is a full on high voltage tube preamp but without any tone control. It doesn't have a line out for stage monitor either, making it one hell of a luxury tube powered DI, which is all it claims to be after all!
The thing actually looks like it's pretty dang sweet if that's what you're after. Can you run this straight into a cab? Sort of like using as an amp head. Or is it mainly just to give you a "tube" sound when recording and playing live? The price tag scare me! 
REDDI's not a preamp, though there are some cases where it can behave like one. And it's not an emulator. I've done extensive comparison with a B-15 DI'd from the speaker out, and with the same EQ on each you really can't tell the difference. Couldn't say the same about emulators like the VT. But splitting its signal only waters down the tone, so it's best to let it be what it is. The price tag is a little scary, but worth it IMHO.
Nope. I use it all the time for live. Even take it with me on fly gigs. I have an amp, therefore I don't need the REDDI sound in my amp.
