I think the SVT-DI is good in the way that hybrid amps are good. If that's your thing, then it would probably be totally worth the money. Me, I'd rather put together another hundy and get a REDDI and get proper tube amp sound.
Is that what the REDDI is, a sort of tube emulator?? I keep seeing people go on about that thing and I barely know what it is. I'll google it again.

REDDI's not a preamp, though there are some cases where it can behave like one. And it's not an emulator. I've done extensive comparison with a B-15 DI'd from the speaker out, and with the same EQ on each you really can't tell the difference. Couldn't say the same about emulators like the VT. But splitting its signal only waters down the tone, so it's best to let it be what it is. The price tag is a little scary, but worth it IMHO.
