Seeking reviews on Sandberg Superlight and Medium Scale

Looking for a light weight medium scale J and or P style bass and Sandberg is on my radar. I've heard some demos of the Sandberg SL series (paulownia wood) basses but interested in reviews that aren't from dealers/endorsers. Can't find any reviews on their 32.5" medium scale offering so love to hear some feedback from anyone who has played one.

I have a SL TT5. It is regular scale. I love it. It sounds and plays great. Then, factor in 6.25 pounds. Yes, please. I sold all my 5ers besides it, my Marusczsyk Jake 5p, and a TM5 SL I just got.

I'll chime in. Been playing bass from guitar for about 2 years now and gravitated to medium scale. Put together a medium scale parts bass p with paulownia body. 6 lbs., great feel and sound. On the Sandberg front I got a California II TT4 SL a while back. (6lbs. 34" scale) Fantastic bass. A medium scale (32.5") came up on reverb and I bought it. VM4 regular 8.5Lbs. weight. Addicted to the 6lb. weight, I decided to swap necks. Put the medium scale neck on my TT4SL and vice versa. I also turned it into a PJ with Aguilar pickups. This is my main axe at present and I love it! Sound and play ability are next to none in my book. I've also got a 32.5" California II TT4 SL on order, expected next month. I'm sold on Sandberg and medium scale.

I have two TM super lights , a four and a five. 12.5 pound weight COMBINED.
Both basses together weigh as much as my old 78 Jazz bass alone.
They are absolutely awesome instruments.
I’ve never played a medium scale Sandberg, but now I’m interested!

Really nice! How do the TM's do with copping a vintage J Bass tone? Leaning towards a TT right now but those look mighty tempting!

honestly, and this is just my opinion, I don’t think they sound like a jazz bass. I also don’t think they sound like a music man either. I think they sound like themselves. There’s a certain degree of familiarity with the tone but I don’t consider it to be a bass that cops another bass’ sound.

I’ve owned a fair number of quality jazz basses over the years: Pedulla, Lull, Zon, Tobias, Lakland, Elrick. Most recently I was playing Sadowsky NYC’s. I now have 2 Sandberg superlights. The first was stock and the 2nd I ordered with Glockenklang’s 3 band preamp. The necks and fretwork are amazing. Notes ring out like a bell even with the action set super low. Sold all my other basses except the Zon fretless. Now I have a 32.5 on order. Only have to wait a year for it (sigh). As to the sound, it’s rich and hi-fi. I always thought a very light weight bass would have a wimpier sound. Not.

Congrats Terry! I've got one on order through Pure Sound now. 32.5" scale, roasted maple neck and Lollar pups. Please give a review when you've had some time with yours!

Jazz punk, I love mine. Plays easier than any bass I’ve ever tried. The electronics provide full range low as you go to crisp highs. Light as a feather , 5.4 lbs. I totally endorse Sandbergs. You won’t find any buzzes or dead spots. Quality is unmatched IMHO. I doubt I’ll order another one however the 9-12 month wait is just too long for me. Im 72! I won’t hesitate to buy an in stock item however. I’d like to try a Lionel on for size.
