Seems Fishy - Stingray Content

This recently popped up on Craigslist in my area. What looks like a Stingray HS for sale for $400. However, the guy has no other pictures, it’s at his mom’s house and he wants to sell it today. I gut is the whole “If it sounds to good” cliche’. Thoughts?

The picture is blurry, but as far as the bass itself is concerned, I can see no obvious red flags - except the price, which is suspiciously low. That, and the story he puts up, and his need to sell it quickly, looks extremely fishy. Avoid.

My guess is it is stolen if the bass is legit. No way I’m going anywhere near that one.

The neck is is painted black on the backside, you can see it at the heel and the edge of the headstock, so looks like it has a US Sub neck on it. -OR- maybe its a neck thru StingRay?
Also, the front row of coils on the humbucker are poked in like the springs underneath are collapsed.

I understand being suspicious, but I have also gotten some amazing deals, from people who just needed the gear sold for whatever reason.

I wouldn’t automatically say no because it looks to good to be true.

Be aware of the possible risks & red flags, and be cautious, but you never know when following thru may lead to that next “you’ll never believe the deal I got” NBD thread.

I’m not a EBMM specialist so I’ll leave the photo analyzation to the experts, just wanted to chime in to say keep an open mind.
