Seller's Remorse - what's your tale?

My early 80's cherry stain Aria Pro II SB-R60 which I sold in the early 90's. I wish I had held onto that one for sure.

In 50+ years every bass I sold was because I just bought a better one. So I have no regrets.

There is one possible exception, a Mike Lull M5V Jazz which maybe I should have kept, but I'd just bought a better sounding bass so the one-in-one-out rule was in operation.

I do miss the 72 jazz bass and 82 L-1000 I sold, they were both terrific instruments. Also had a 72 Rick i liked but my 84 4001v63 is a much better bass imo.

Currently i have a more modern and boutique collection but i wish i kept it vintage. We live and we learn!

I've sold exactly 2 basses in my life. I bought both back 3 times over because I missed them (Epi EA-260 and Gibson Ripper).

So yeah.

Don't play it enough, but I LOVE my EA-260

Any bass I ever owned I still own so the answer would be no. Unless I sold one while sleep walking, but then I wouldn't know about it, so still no.

My only regret was my 1st Ric - 1990 4003 mapleglo BT [Black Trim]. Owned it for over 10 yrs, had to sell it to make ends meet.... Didn't realize when I bought it that it was a relatively rare color combo. Still my favorite...
Had a thing made to replace the treble pickup surround, way before that was a thing [?]

Yeah, I have read that the color is extremely rare, possibly the rarest. I've seen it suggested that they only did it in 1979. Either way, I never should have sold it!

Not a bass but two guitars. A PRS DGT and a Fender EJ Strat. Both were killer specimens of their respective kinds.

Did you ever sell a bass only to have it haunt your dreams? I had a Reverend Decision bass years ago. I sold it because (I'm stupid and) it didn't fit the vibe of the band I was in. Here I am, years later, and I have left the band. And guess what? I just bought a Reverend Decision bass. What's your tale?

Well... to be perfectly honest? No. There are no basses that "haunt my dreams"; well, except for 2 or 3 that I wish I had bought; or that I could have bought, if they'd ever made a left handed version. Other than that? Nary a one...
Since I bought my first bass (a lefty "A" necked '78 Fender P-Bass), I've owned 32 basses; 28 of which I still own. And play (although the logistics of that are... kind of a pain). Of the 2 that I sold, and the 2 I gave away (those 2 were rightys), there's only one that I wish I had back; sometimes... sort of... a little... A black 2018 Gibson Thunderbird. Don't really know why I bought it; I already had an absolutely flawless 2013 Gibson T-Bird, in Vintage Burst. But, I just decided I had to have another one, so... Sadly, the '18 wasn't quite as nice as the 2013 one is. All the electronics worked OK, but the workmanship in the control cavity? About 5 times more solder than was necessary. It looked like 3 or 4 drunken monkeys had a solder fight in there. OTOH, the wiring in my '13 is a textbook illustration of how a professional builds a wiring harness. And, the Babicz bridge on the '18? Puh-leeze... It worked just fine when I sold the bass, but that was after I spent 6+ hours taking it apart; filing and sanding the parts; reassembling and testing it; then repeating the process. I reached a point where, every time I picked it up? All I could think about was the mess in the control cavity - and what a total PITA the bridge was. So, I sold it. Somebody in the T-bird club here bought it - 2 or 3 years ago, now. I assume he's still happy with it...
So, yeah; every so often I think about that T-Bird; usually, whenever he posts on the club site. And, occasionally - VERY occasionally - I do kinda, sorta wish I had it back...

Don't know about regret, I did a lot of buying and selling in my early 20's which eventually led me to having a thunderbird that I traded with the bass player from JET for a Sandberg VM4 which is one of the best feeling basses I've ever had. But it's made me realise the bass sound in my head is big fat buttery precision tone with flats and a bit of dirt. So I'm looking to replace the guts of the sandberg with some more Fender stuff.

BUT it makes me miss a 2013 American vintage 63 Precision in sun burst I had. Sold it for a steal…I'd have to pay almost double to get it back today. I found the owner and he is considering selling it back to me…but the beautiful case it came in has been destroyed… sad. It was a wonderful bass, best Fender I've ever had.

He sent me a photo of it from a photoshoot…

I sold a Bongo 5 LE years back. Tried to replace it but never found one quite as good. My bigger regrets are the amps I've sold over the years. Namely the Mesa Bass 400+ and the GK 2001RB.
