Hi guys, I had been having a problem with what I percieved as a wolftone on Bb on my G string. It did not happen when I played accoustically, only when amped. After reading several threads on tuning the afterlength of the strings, I ordered a macassar adjustable compensating tailpiece and cord from Mike Pecanic. Ken Smith provided the wood for it. Thanks, Mike & Ken. Also ordered a new set of Obligatos. (my old ones were 3 years old). I took the new goodies and the bass over to Albert Genduso, in Wellington, FL (www.albertisviolins.com) to have him cut some off the bridge legs so that I could lower the bridge a little more, and install the new hardware. Al is very meticulous in his work, and is a bass player himself. Check out his web site, there is an interesting article about him performing some emergency work on Wynton Marsalis' bass players instrument. Anyway, everything worked out better than I expected. The wolftone (?) is gone. I don't know if it was the new strings, the tailpiece, the cord, or Al's setup work that fixed it, but I'm a happy camper.
