This is a DCM5 model bass from master luthier Shawn May. If you’ve ever got the chance to see/play one of his instruments in person, you already know what it truly is! I currently have three made by him. I am looking to see what’s out there, and am in no rush to get rid of, but would consider cash or trade plus cash on either end. Cash can be negotiated.
I’ll start by saying that this bass plays as nice as it looks. Very snappy sound and low action. It’s not the heaviest bass, but also not the lightest. Not sure if the actual weight, but I’d compare it to my musicman stingray 5.
- The body is weight relieved (basically chambered I guess) wenge. - The top and back are bookmatched box elder burl with matching headstock front and back.
- pickup covers, knobs and Gotoh tuning pegs are also wenge.
- neck is wenge, flame maple and red heart.
-Pickups are parallel Nordstrand dual coils with 2 way parallel/single coil switch paired with Sadowsky on board preamp.
- Birdseye maple fretboard with wenge binding has a 20in compound radius.
- Bridge is Hipshot D style bridge.
- 34” scale
