Hello, good people of TalkBass! I'm Phil, long time lurker from QC, Canada. I've been playing guitars seriously for the past 15 years and I've recently decided to pick up Bass. I was getting a bit bored as I was stuck on the same blues/rock songs from the 50's, 60's & 70's. Had the opportunity to buy a great bass kit locally and here I am. I really appreciate rediscovering songs I've been playing for a while and discovering new songs I would never have thought to play on guitar (Funk, Motown...). I try my best to play as a bassist, not as a guitarist who play bass.

Also, I'm a bit of a gear addict. I tend to swap instruments a few time per year. I try not to get sentimental over my guitars and look forward to try something new.



BTW, French is my first language, which may explain some funny sentence structure.

Played in a Country band for 17 years. Seventeen years of the same ole 35 +/- songs over and over and over....... The bass was a welcomed change. Notice played is in the past tense.

I hear you. As much as I love playing lead guitar in a blues band, I find playing 12-bar blues Bass quite redundant. That's a major plus in a way; helps broaden your horizons.

Here's the bass; a 2007 Fender Jazz Bass '64 reissue from Custom Shop. It's a real new old stock. The shop I got it from never sold it. They mostly sells middle range, metal style guitars.

Found a good deal on a Aguilar DB751 + DB115 to pair with.

I know you were just kidding. Back in the dark ages I took a horse and pony show through out North America that was centered around what a new sales person needed to know to sell Mack trucks. This was normally a three day seminar. The Canadians were through by noon on the third day. Their schools are just better than ours and they went through the material quicker than the Yanks could.

They also have a music grading system that we do not. Couse, you have to let the Nufee's have a little slack... but, those Canadians are pretty sharp.

Hello western neighbor! Not the best season for Habs fan, right? I really dig mandolin, I had a nice Weber a few couple years ago. Was a lot in Celtic/Irish music.
