Double Bass Shipping in Europe

I'd rent a van, drive there, buy bass and drive back with it, taking in the French scenery on the way

An expensive option though. I had to rent a large van on two separate days last month. On one of the days it cost me €90. Cheap car rentals are a thing of the past. In Germany anyway.

Last summer i spent two weeks in Germany with my family. I used sometimes the FlixBus service, which was efficient and rather cheap. I moved a double bass from Frankfurt to Berlin, accompanying it with a minimal cost. I had it in a well padded soft case and the guys loaded it with me and unloaded with the utmost care. I strongly recommend the FlixBus service despite the above mentioned language problem (even if i speak four languages).

This is quite an old post but since I just moved 2 basses succesfully, I have to mention it: Blablacar... Takes a while to find a person that you trust, but then its probably the cheapest and quickest way to get a bass from A to B in Europe if you cannot drive yourself...
