Shopping Around, Noticing...

I've been looking at a lot of Fenders lately because I am about to get a new bass (finally). The newer Fenders, I have noticed, do not have the same quality as they used to. Granted, I only played about 3-4 of them (both Jazz and P). I just want to know if anyone else has noticed that. They don't have the same feel nor the sound: anyone agree?

Have you been looking at the new, 2008 American Standard basses? Every one I've played has been very good in every respect.

Friend of my just picked up an JBass American Deluxe and reports no problems or issues with it. Totally happy with it.

Hmm...maybe they just had a bad batch. They were America deluxes.

my new MIA Jazz is the best fender jazz I've ever played.

and it was when it was on the shop floor as well!

haha, i feel cheated! Maybe it was a sign! I dont know, I'll keep myself open to the newer Fenders. I was also looking at sting rays, but the only problem with those are that they are so heavy.
