Well, we seem to have a club for everything: tall bassists, straight edge bassists, mediocre, even nude bassists! I did a pretty extensive search and didn't find a club of this sort, so here it is. If there's already one, feel free to delete this... This club is dedicated to all the short people who play bass! In order to be a member you must be 5'6" or shorter. That's about 1.7 meters for the rest of the world. I'll be assigning numbers, no requests. Pics won't be required, but are encouraged . Be honest now. Also, I think it would be interesting to see how many of us play short scale basses. I'm 5'4" on a tall day. I play a P bass and I have no trouble with it at all. I also wouldn't mind it being wider at the nut!
Right here I'm 167 cm (don't know how much in feet) but 17...I could grow...but I'm short nonetheless! Not just a low-ender on bass Don't have any pics of all of me sorry.
I'm 5ft 2", almost 17, could still grow but doubtfully more then 5ft 5". My band is called She's Got Issues although we quite often call it Dave's Got Migits (Due to our guitarist being liek 5ft 9" - 11" and me, sing + Drummer are all around 5ft 2") You can just seen me in the shadows at the back.
Alright! Also, I'm in the same boat as you Wagstaff, I'm 17 and I'm pretty much done growing. MitchG- #2 Wagstaff- #3
WOW, I'm a TALL Bassist at 5'8. You just gave me self esteem man. I'm really 5'7" plus, but I love throwing the rounded 8 in
Haha, why the hell not. I'm 5'6" without shoes. Both my basses are 34" though, and don't have any issue playing them. I also play a 3/4 size upright (started on 1/4 size in 6th grade).
Great Idea for a club! I'm 5'5" and 130 lbs. Always played regular scale basses. I will confess one of the reasons I bought my Spector is the smaller body. I had a Jazz before it and it looked huge on me. In a related topic I actually got turned down for a band once because I was too short. Back in the hair band days I auditioned for a pretty big name band in the Miami area, they were signed at one time & I think released something at one point. They said I was by far the best guy to audition but because they were all 6'2"-6'3" they thought it wouldn't look "right" so they passed on me.
That sucks man. My band often jokes that my instrument is bigger than me, but I couldn't imagine a band refusing you because of your height... You're #6
Hi, I am 157cm (5ft 2'') (then again I am only 13) tall and my bass comes up to my armpit(standard size)! Im new here and have been playing for almost 1 year. Moving to full scale soon.
i'm 168 cm. and, since i'm 38, not very likely to grow any more - except sideways. some time ago i tried an ibanez btb-555. looked ridiculous.
Welcome everyone Sorry Palmann... TomA1234- #7 Energy- #8 Tom, you've probably got a lot of growing left to do. Maby you'll need leave this club and join the tall bassist club in a few years...
I must be in the average height bassist club cause I'm 5'10 (178 cm) and at 18 I'm greedy enough to seek 6 ft (183cm) but probibly won't make it. Strange topic for a thread but cool to try something different, and my condolences to those of you who have suffered height descrimination, should be about tone not physique, lols though i must admit i have been heighsist in the past.
Count me in. I'm 5'2" (on a good day). I have been playing full scale basses since the get go.-Except for a run w/a mid scale Yamaha Motion b bass. I even play 35" scale. I may look "dorky" behind my bass, but I get payed to play it, not by how I look.
Eh... I'm 5'5" on a good day, but I'm a chick. I've always asserted that makes me average for a woman, even if it's the short side of average. What's interesting to me is that I am so used to a regular 34" scale that anything less than that, particular with electric guitars, seems puny and uncomfortable. To use LOL-speak... DO NOT WANT! I'm a big enough woman, though, that the bass doesn't look visually out of place with me when I'm playing it, so again no size worries there. I don't need a #, but that doesn't mean I won't lurk on the thread. Cheers.

Hi there just an idea for any of you shorter stature players, i play a 22 fret ESP/LTD Viper 254 which is a f*** nice bass plus it looks unusually small on me given I'm reasonably average in height at 5''10 as well as weighing 120 pounds or so. Has a reasonably small but strange shaped body and a narrow neck which makes playing sooo much easier. Could be worth a try but just a suggestion. Think its previous owner was shorter than me.
I'm 4' 11" and I play a DeArmond Pilot IV and a Takamine Jasmine electro-acoustic. The Takamine really looks huge on me but it's still fun to play...
