Short scale (33") tuning question

Ok, so after years of lusting after Matt Garrison's tone I'm considering having a 33" custom built. While I'm mostly interested in tuning EADGC, I also have a project that tunes in drop C. I'm currently using a 34" fretless which I have strung with light strings, and will just tune up a half step so I'm in C standard (from B).

I'm not really interested in a "drop vs standard" debate. Just wondering if anybody has tried drop C on a 33". If a guy were to put 50 gauge strings on, with a 120 for the low C would that be decently tight?
