Short scale headless bass

Hello all... I'm interested in a short scale bass for playing reggae and dance music.

I'm also interested in headless basses for the reduced weight and size, easier balance, less neck dive etc.

Now I'm wondering, correct me if I'm wrong, why are there no headless short-scale basses currently in production? It would seem to me that by combining both these options you get an even more portable instrument?

Why don't Steinberger offer a short scale version?

A number of custom builders will do it. SX has had one I think.

I saw a conversion of a Ibanez Mikro to headless. That's 28.6", very light and small and they sound great.

But I agree, there should be more, and five strings

Kiesel offers the Vader headless in a 30" scale, available in 4, 5, and 6 string. I can't think of any others though.

Kiesel Vader VB4 looks awesome but a bit out of my price bracket. Getting a shop to convert an Ibanez Mikro would probably work out much cheaper.

Using the cheap hardware from eBay it shouldn't be that expensive if you can DIY. Paying for the labor though will bump that up.
