Short scale neck replacement for a Gretsch G2220

I recently bought a used Gretsch G2220 short scale bass. I bought it sight unseen for a for a rediculously low price. I like the bass, but I'm not crazy about the neck. Can anyone provide some input about how to and if I can get and install a different neck?

Why, is neck damaged, or do you just not like it?

I don't like the shape, which I might describe as a flat D-shape, and I also don't like how wide it is at the nut. However, I can live with it. This is nothing against the bass itself, but I thought I'd look into how to improve the feel of my left hand.

Ha, no offense taken.

The width at the nut: 1 9/16", width at the heel: 2 7/16". The original Schaller tuners are included as is the bone nut.

It is not the most aesthetically pleasing shape. But it looks like a little reshaping can be done without messing up the logo.

If you are more tool-literate than I am that is.
