Should I buy a Tribute L2000.... or something else?

Got the active preamp to come on eventually with some wire jiggling. Just going to take it to a tech to check all the connections and do the K switch mod for me as well. Digging the tones I'm getting from this bass - so I do think it was the right choice. Very excited to get it modded and open up more of the tonal possibilities. Thanks again for the advice everyone! I may check back after the mod just so there is a bit of finality to this thread for people searching this same thing in the future.

Took it to Carl over at Lakland yesterday. He says it's a bad input jack that's causing the negative wire from the battery to short which is what is causing the active preamp to go in and out.

Also having him put a new nut on the bass and a general setup in addition to the wiring mod. I've decided to do inside SC / parallel / outside SC. I'll be losing series. Does that make me crazy? I have time to change my mind. I really want Inside / Outside though and series sounded like more beef/woof than I would normally want. But in fairness I have not put the bass through its paces yet with my effects and amp due to the wiring issue.

I'd do what ur planning. I like the sounds of that- I''ve not done it on a G&L tho.
