Should I Even Audition?

There's a reason American Idol focuses some air time on the rejects as well as the talented people.

Its entertaining. We often make the mistake of thinking we're in the music business. We're not. We're in the entertainment business.

If the bar does that often, people may enjoy coming out partially to see a massive wreck sometimes. It works for NASCAR.

Does anyone really think people come out to hear their awesome musicianship shine on "Brown Eyed Girl"?

Open mic seessions are great for tuning up your ear. Even if you aren't on the stage you can still be "playing" in your head. They usually play pretty easy stuff.

Consider it a notch on your strap. At least you went out and saw what the scene is about. Can't learn that in your bedroom or online.
I haven't been to the PI since I was a child (6yo). I'm 39 now!

I'd love to go back, not only to see where my folks grew up (still have some cousins there) but also see what the music scene is like.

If your heart isn't in it and your just doing it for the $, then you will not last long and you would be better off to keep looking and work on your playing abilities and diversity of styles. Don't waste theirs and your time. Just my 2cents

Playing something you don't like will just annoy you in the end and get you angry and not wanna play. I'd say hold out until you find something that fits YOU
