Should I put a Nord big split and big single in together?

I've got an old Cort A5 bass that I upgraded with a Dark glass tone capsule preamp a few years back. I love the feel of this bass(I had the whole thing filed and setup by Carl Pedigo, the Chicago Bass Dr) it plays like butter. Live though, with my metal band, I've been playing a Geddy Lee jazz bass for the single coil growl. The Cort just doesn't cut through the mix like the jazz.

I'm looking to get my Cort to sounds more like my Jazz. I was thinking of changing out the pickups to two Nordstrand Big Singles, but then thought, what if I did a Big Single in the bridge, and a big split in the neck position. Ala a classic P/J design. My tone is similar to Frank Bello from Anthrax and that's what he usually rocks.

My question is, is there any reason I shouldn't do this, or am I good to go?

Big Single and Big Split sound very similar. (I’m sure others will decry this as ridiculous; whatever.)

So sure, go for it.

Only downside is spending money without knowing whether you'll like the results, but that's always the case. I would bet it sounds way better, but I'm just guessing. If you can afford it, just try it and let us know what you think? With clips!!

You should send Nordstrand a message as already noted. They're very helpful and responsive. I've had basses with each, and they do sound similar, but the splits are a little beefier, as you would expect, as they're supposed to be like p pickups.
The only issue combining them is a possible volume difference, but they can answer if that'll be a problem or not.

I don’t see why it would not work, but I expect it would work pretty much like two Splits or two Singles, just without hum cancellation (with both on)… I’d just get a set of Splits… or Singles if you want some extra spank and/or will mostly run both full on.

Per MO:
I would not mix single coils with humcancelling, always hum/noise unless the BSp is selected alone.
If he wants a “jazz” sound he could also get the jazzbars:

also, yes the BSp have a little that “P-ish” sound, but that cort has the neck pickup further up, not in the P’s location!
