I used the PRO35 for a while years ago - same foot print. I purchased a small spring clamp from the hardware store that I would clamp to the bridge foot. Then I would use the mic's clamp to attach to the spring clamp and gooseneck it in place.

I think that is the most expedient solution right now.

This is an elegant design but does clamping to the bridge dampen the sound? Also, does pointing directly at the top have a bass-boosting proximity effect? If yes to either question, are those effects something you want in your sound?

In the near field you always get a boost of low frequencies compared to a distance of several meters away since higher frequencies are more directional than lower ones. But placing a mic several meters away is not practical in a live setting.

Some (cheaper or small) mics have a small coupling capacitor that cuts the low end a bit. But in general you need more low cut and probably starting at a different frequency when you close mic a bass.

Agreed but in my understanding that's why many of us point the mic upward under the bridge instead of directly at the top--reduces the proximity effect to some extent.

As far as I know the proximity effect enhances the bass frequencies.
But pointing a directional mic to the neck heel gives less mids and highs, since the directionality is mostly valid for higher frequencies.
