Love this thread! I've made many custom pg's and here's one of my oldest and still favorite -

I have a newer Mark Hoppus with the reversed pickup. When I went to town with modding it I drew up a pickguard with an extended bottom and moved the P route to the historically correct P bass position:

Very cool. I always wanted to have one but with a jazz control plate and a single concentric just like yours.

Here is one I did a couple years ago for a bass I put together. I cut and shaped the guard totally by hand with a Dremel tool.

Here's one I made for my Dingwall from quilted Movingue. I made a template out of cardboard, then transferred that to a 1/4" thick plastic sheet. I bookmatched my veneer and glued it to a 3/16" ( I think) basswood sheet. I then used a router to cut it out to my template. I then used plenty of danish oil and some polyurethane to give it some depth.

I didn't do the work...a friend did it for me.....Powder coated the control panel cover and pickup trim rings to black them out and made a matching guard from some leftover sheet steel (also powder coated)

Finished. A little brown die and some polishing. Adhered to a P-bass shield with spray adhesive for rigidity and VIOLA!

The generic black pickguard on my black Silvertone P-bass wasn't working for me, so I did this.

Peter Max glued to clear acrylic, and foil layer on the back for shielding. Mo' mojo, mofo!
