After seeing this thread I really want a Rob Allen.

Does anyone know where is the best place to look for used ones? Also could someone tell how the Walnut MB-2 diferences from the Maple MB-2?
Sorry if this has been asked before.

Please post some more pics! They are beautiful and from what I heared they sound amazing.

Yeah I think the same, I wouldn't leave such a bass go either.
I consider buying one used from the states. Do I have to wait for them to appear on talkbass, or is there some other website where I can try my luck?

Can I find some more soundclips somewhere around here? I allready knowthe sound from the videos and the clip on Rob Allen's site of by heart.

Took me ages to find my RA. Really wanted a fretless deep 5 (and finally got it) but I watched a fretted Deep 5 go up on ebay uk several times ... guy just couldn´t sell it for the price he wanted ... can´t have been any RA fans looking because it eventually went for less than 600 pounds. I was sick that I missed it at that price, could have easily afforded a fretless conversion. I think I posted a link in this thread at the time.

So keep your eyes on the local ebay ... seems when RA´s pop up not many people are looking.

I think you'll find a pretty high retention rate of the Rob Allen basses among owners. When you factor in the tone, weight, and feel of them it's an easy brand to justify keeping around. If I ever had to drop down to only a few basses, several would be a Rob Allen bass.

Ordering new from Rob might seem a tad expensive, but I'm willing to argue that there aren't many luthiers who offer as much quality in that price range.

Ouch!

I missed a Sandberg Custom Thinline earlier this year by one day. It had no bids and the price had dropped to £800!!! Ordered my Status S2 instead which is great.

This is a four-string MB-2, unlined fingerboard, "two tone" koa top with matching koa headstock. Made ca. July-October 2008. The neck is a beautiful birdseye maple, but I haven't taken photos of that yet (these photos are those Rob took in shop, including of the top wood before he finished it).

So the MB-2 that I ordered in September is almost finished. Rob emailed me last night to let me know that all that remains to be done is to give it a final sanding and spray it! Should be in my hands by the end of the month. For those of you that do not remember, here is the piece of Koa that was used for the top...
