Ben I remember that shot and that day...
Here's mine (which is no longer on this bass, I steel wooled it off, when VW signed my blue Nordy, the same day that Ben got the above pix), this Sig was signed back on Halloween 1994 at the Iron Horse Music Hall, Northampton, MA after a Flectones gig:

I have Victor Wooten's signature on a poster from work that I snagged, unfortunately I was in a rush to get to work and forgot my bass, which is disappointing. My coworker had Victor sign both of his basses. I also have Primus' signatures from a really long time ago, on a ticket stub though, I wasn't about to lug my bass down to DC with me.
Here's mine...the sig comes from the Bass player in the house band "Otis Day and the Knights"..The movie was Animal House..can you guess who he is?....I hear he plays a Stratocaster these days...I can't understand why switched to a six string..

Just curious, why do people like to collect autographs? And expecially on a nice instrument? IMHO, autographs on a nice bass are like tatoos on a beautiful woman. I think in both cases they detract from the natural beauty, but to each his own.
I wouldn't let Paul McCartney sign my basses, and he is one of my all time favorites. They can sign a book if I'm needing an autograph for some reason.
edit: I suppose I might have one sign a pickguard.

My Hamer CH12, signed by the guys from King's X. Appropriate, since I was introduced to the 12 string at my first King's X concert, back in 1990. Galactic Cowboys were the opening band, best club show I have ever been to.
I have actually had this one signed twice. The first time, Doug Pinnick signed it, but the signature rubbed off.
A couple of years later, I saw them again and had them all sign it. I sprayed over it with clear lacquer.
And yes, I know the control cavity cover is gone. It was in a parts bag that got stolen out of my van about 5 or 6 years ago, along with all of my cords, pedals, straps, charts, sheet music, etc. Stupid thieves stole my Eden Metro too!

Since this thread has been dragged out of it's crypt, I'll update the pictures that have been dropped.
Still have this Alembic that I bought from Stanley Clarke. As you can see he autographed it for me.
But I sold this Hanewinckel that was autographed by Nathan East and Gerald Veasley. The autographs were eventually removed by the buyer.

I'm going to bring a white Jazz pickguard when I go see Sublime with Rome in August to try to get Eric Wilson to sign it!
I just saw SwR the 18th, they were great!!! I wish i coulda gotten him to sign something. Love his playing
Followup:
We had front row seats! After the encore, my son waved around the pickguard and marker to get Eric's attention and he came right over and signed it for us and shook our hands. We also caught one of Rome's picks and got Eric's setlist!!
